CBSE Term 1 Board Exams 2022: BIG update students need to know

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has said that all the students of class 10 and class 12, who will be appearing for the Term 1 CBSE Board Exams, will be able to use only pens to mark their answers. 

In view of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic, the CBSE has also decided to take the classes 10, 12 board exams into 2 terms – covering 50% syllabus in each term. 

Notably, the MCQ-type term 1 exam will be held in an adaptable schedule of 4-8 weeks duration from November 2021, while the subjective term 2 exams are scheduled to take place between March-April 2022. 

Talking to a leading daily, controller of examinations at CBSE, Sanyam Bharadwaj said that students will also be given additional blank space or circle in the OMR answer sheets.

Bharadwaj was quoted as saying, “While revision if the candidate realises that they have selected the wrong choice, they can strike it off, select the correct circle and write the same (like 1, 2, 3 or 4 or a, b, c or d) in the additional blank space.” 

Update about practical exams

Talking about the practical exams, Bharadwaj confirmed that the practical exams for Term 1 will be conducted by schools but the Term 2 practicals would be conducted by the CBSE based depending on the COVID-19 situation. 

When will CBSE declare the date sheet and guidelines for the Term 1 Exam?

The exact dates for the CBSE Term 1 exam are not yet confirmed, however, reports state that a timetable and list of guidelines will be issued by mid-October. Last month, CBSE official Rama Sharma had said that CBSE will release the date sheet for the term 1 exam for Classes 10 and 12 soon at the official website cbse.gov.in.

CBSE Term 1 Exam Pattern 

  1. MCQ based objective type questions 
  2. MCQ questions might be based on case-based reasoning
  3. 90 minutes will be allotted to students to answer the questions 
  4. The exam will be held within 4-8 weeks.

CBSE Term 2 Exam Pattern

  1. The exam will have case-based, situation-based, open-ended questions
  2. Short and long answer type question will be asked
  3. The duration of the exam will be 2 hours.
