The newly appointed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday talked about how an improved and modified school education system will help shape the foundation of the country and build a knowledge society in the nation.

Education Minister Pradhan, while reviewing the functioning of school education in the country, discussed the roadmap to make schools future-ready.

He also said that a robust school education system will help build a knowledge society and lay the foundation of a ‘new India’.

He tweeted, “Reviewed the functioning of the school education and literacy department. Discussed initiatives related to strengthening school education including implementation of NEP, digitisation, teacher’s capacity building, convergence with skills to make our school education future ready.”

On July 7, Dharmendra Pradhan was appointed as the Union Education Minister in PM Modi’s cabinet after former education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal had given his resignation from the position the same morning.

Implementation of NEP 2020

After his appointment, the education minister talked about how he will oversee the implementation of the NEP 2020 and will make sure that school children are given the opportunity to explore themselves and thrive.

He said, “Laboratory of 21st century India, our schools must give our children the opportunity to explore themselves and thrive. A robust school education system will help build a knowledge society and lay the foundation of a New India.”

Education Minister Pradhan further reviewed the progress of implementation of the new National Education Policy (NEP) and said his focus will be on ensuring time-bound implementation of the objectives laid down in the policy.
